Chariot Marie: Yet Another Adventure

March 12, 2013

I guess this really has been a long time coming. My love for thrift shopping dates back to way before Macklemore’s hit song said it was cool. Back in 9th grade, when all of the girls were excited about Roxy and shopping at Abercrombie, I was thrilled about the antique belt that my great grandmother gave me. Not to mention, my diverse wardrobe that my friends are always borrowing from and joking about how they love “shopping at Kristen’s closet”. It’s obvious to me now, that the pieces were there all along.

I started the shopping about 3 years ago. Collecting vintage pieces that caught my eye….putting them away for a rainy day. As I learned more about Etsy, I quickly realized that this was a perfect route from me. At the end of 2011, I fully launched the plans for my shop and began shopping weekly and building my collection. At the beginning of 2012, I did a product shoot of all of the pieces and was fully ready to jump into it. Everything was all ready to go….then I chickened out. Which is SO not in my character. I tend to be fearless in business endeavors and I’m not sure what made this one different. I’m not even sure what I was afraid of…failing? Not having enough time? The whole thing just not working out? Regardless of the reason, I decided to put it all on hold, not knowing if I’d ever pick it back up.

Over a year later, I woke up one day and said “I’m going to start my Etsy shop, today”. The time finally felt right! It’s been a couple of months now and I am having so much fun with it and learning more every day. I’m excited to take it one day at a time and see where it goes. I look forward to having another creative outlet and hobby. I also look forward to the opportunity to build up a team and give others the chance to shine with their talents! (Seamstresses, stylists, makeup artists, etc)

The name of the shop is Chariot Marie. For now, it is a mix of 90% vintage clothing and accessories and 10% customized and handmade items. I am keeping the focus on girly and romantic items. Think pink, lace, florals, and all things dainty and lady-like! I would love for you to head over and check out the current inventory, HERE.

If it interests you and you’d like to watch it grow and keep up with the new items I add, please “like” the shop on Etsy and Chariot Marie’s Facebook.

Here’s to another adventure and another chapter of my story! :)
